Lil Wayne goes to jail today

Rikers Island has a new inmate and his name is Lil Wayne.

Lil Wayne will be spending the next 12 months of his life in Rikers Island Prison for a gun possession charge that happened in 2007.

What is it with these rappers and NFL players and NBA players that they feel they need to carry guns around with them all the time? Is their life really that much in danger? Don't they have body guards with them all all times? I don't get it. Why carry a gun when you know it's illegal and if you get caught, your ass may end up in the pokie?

Oh well, you do the crime you do the time. Try not to drop the soap for the next year or so Mr. Lil Wayne. And say hi to fellow gun toter, Plaxico Burress for us, ok?

Lil Wayne Going to Prison

Lil Wayne, staring down a year behind bars at the peak of his career, returned to his hometown of New Orleans for a performance on what he's calling his farewell tour.

"I'm nothing without you," he told the screaming crowd Monday at the New Orleans Arena after opening the concert with "A Milli," which last year earned him a Grammy for best rap solo.

The 27-year-old rapper pleaded guilty in October to a weapons possession charge and will be sentenced Feb. 9. His plea deal calls for a year in jail.

Lil Wayne, did you not learn anything from Plaxico Burress and all the other rapper homies that carry guns? Be safe and don't drop the soap, homie.
